Ackworth Jaguars Play at Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity

Our Under 8s and Under 11s have recently played at Castleford Tigers. The U8s played before the Castleford v Wigan game and played teams from as far away as Cumbria and the U11s played 2 excellent games against local teams Kippax and Lock Lane before Castleford played Huddersfield.&nbsp;

Our Under 9s played at Wakefield Trinity with 2 teams and played 3 games. One against Batley, York Acorn and then against ourselves.&nbsp;

On Saturday June 7th, the U11s and U9s took part in the RFL tournament down at Gunnersbury Park against teams from all around the UK.&nbsp;

Both the U9s and the U11s played teams from around the UK and played some great rugby on the day and were commended on how they both played. Once the tournament had finished, it was a dash to Wembley (all 6 miles which took nearly an hour), where they walked around the pitch just before the Challenge Cup Final main event before the rain started. This is what our club is all about, giving players the experiences of a life time whilst playing rugby league. This year we have given players the experiences of playing at Castleford Tigers, Leeds Rhinos, Wakefield Trinity, Rhinos Challenge and we still have a few more in the pipeline.

All our playing age groups took the opportunity to play at Leeds Rhinos ground on Friday 16th May when the Rhinos played Hull FC in a close game that the Rhinos won. Our U7s split into 2 teams and played Hull Wyke and Siddal (Halifax) Our U8s split into 2 teams and played Cottingham Tigers (Hull) and Hull Wyke Our U9s split into 2 teams and played Elland (Halifax) and Hull Wyke Our U11s split into 2 teams and played Hull Wyke in both games. &nbsp;What a great experience for all the players involved.

U8s and U9s Attended Rhinos Challenge 2025

Our U8s and U9s had a fantastic weekend at Butlins representing the Ackworth Jaguars. They played some excellent rugby while creating new and long lasting bonds with their team mates. In 2026, we hope to take more teams after a successful 2024 and 2025 weekends.

We have started a new feature this weekend to start showing off our certificate winners under the banner of Players of the week and showcasing what great talent we have here at the Jaguars.

Coaches will send photos in after the games and we will start putting these out late Sunday evening or early Monday morning. So please keep an eye out for them, as we wont be posting them on the website.

New Player of the Week

Last Friday, our Under-11s team attended a conditioning class at the Train Station gym in Pontefract, led by Lindsey. Despite it being their first experience in a gym setting, the team demonstrated remarkable effort and enthusiasm. We anticipate that with a few more sessions before the season commences in March, they will see significant benefits throughout the 2025 season.

Typically, our videos on Facebook and Instagram receive a modest number of shares and a few hundred views. U11s Building Together, Learning Together for 2025

At Ackworth Jaguars, we’re committed to developing players both on and off the pitch. Our Under 11s had a recent video and presentation session, this gave the team a fresh way to learn by visually breaking down what we discuss and carry out in training whilst also learning and listening to others during the presentation.

More importantly, it was a fantastic opportunity for the team to bond, strengthen their focus, and grow together as a team. Sessions like these are great as we strive to help every player reach their potential, enjoy the game, and face the challenges of an important season with confidence.

Also thanks to the Masons Arms for hosting us. They have become one of the U11s sponsors for 2025/26.

Jaguars Playing at Headingley on May 16th 2025

Leeds Rhinos v Hull FC on Friday 16th May 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Leeds Rhinos have invited all our age groups (U7s, U8s, U9s and U11s) to play on the same night at the iconic Headingley Stadium, home of the Leeds Rhinos 🦏. This is one of the best rugby league stadiums in the world, and it's an amazing opportunity for our players to experience playing on such a prestigious pitch.

Our U11s thought they had their last chance to play at Headingley last year, but Leeds Rhinos have this season included the U11s in 2025! This will be the final year for the U11s to play on this pitch, making it a truly special occasion. 

It will also be an excellent occasions for all other players as we have only managed to play there in the cold months of the year, so hopefully its a sunny May evening.

Not many clubs have the privilege of having all age groups play at the same time, so let's make the most of this unique opportunity. Let's hope for great weather and a Rhinos win! 🦏🌞🏆
